It is currently owned and run by the Council of the Lower Eyre Peninsula, and is considered a significant component in the community and industrial development of the district.

History

Back in the 1960s, the Port Lincoln Airport was already a major regional port, with scheduled flights from South Australia via the Fokker F27 Friendship. The terminal then was equipped with regular features of an airport, but there was lack of security facilities yet.

Since then, the airport has undergone various expansions and renovations to compensate for the growing demands of modernity, tourism, and air traffic.

Runways

There are three functional runways on Port Lincoln Airport: the main runway, 01/19, is made from asphalt, while the two minor runways, 05/23, and 15/33 are made from gravel. Their lengths are 4,918 m, 4,183m, and 4,757m, respectively.

Terminals

There is only one terminal building for the Port Lincoln Airport. It was recently renovated, with much focus on security enhancements. The building now has more lighting, security screening equipments, and both security and general car parking.

Flights and Destinations

The Port Lincoln Airport is currently receiving passengers of Qantas and Regional Express Airlines to and from the locality of Adelaide. It also receives charter flights, medical retrieval services, and general aviation operations.
