Known as the gateway to the 'oasis in the desert', or the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area, Griffith Airport ranked as the 48th airport with the most number of revenue passenger for the financial year of 2009-2010. This airport is currently managed by the Griffith City Council.


Griffith Airport has two runways. The first one, 06/24, has a length measurement of 1,704m and a surface of asphalt. The second runway, 18/36, is 600m long and is surfaced with clay.


Regional Express, the only passenger airline the services the airport, operates their check-in, arrival, and departure in the airport's sole terminal. Facilities in this terminal include food and drinks vending machine, pay phones, disabled toilet facilities, and a payable internet access. ATM machines inside the terminal are not yet available.

Flights and Destinations

Regional Express offers direct flights to Sydney and Melbourne. There are at least three flights going to Sydney every day and at least one going to Melbourne. Flight schedules vary across the days of the week.

Transport To and From the Airport

From the Central Business District (CBD), Griffith Airport can be reached through cars, taxis, or buses. Car and taxi rental services are offered by Avis, Budget, Europcar, Thrifty, and Hertz. Taxis by Griffith taxis also carry passengers to the airport, while Griffith Airport Express has buses that travel to that same destination.
