Located 11km from the town center of Newman, Australia is the Newman Airport, which provides the only means of transport between town and the city of Perth. It is currently owned and operated by the Shire of East Pilbara, which also funds the expansion projects for the airport.
Runways
Newman Airport has one runway, 05/23, which measures 2,072m in length. Before, events such as drag races were held on this runway every year. However, since the airport became more and more busy each year due to passenger demand, it will no longer be the venue of such event.
Terminals
The airport has one terminal building, which underwent an expansion project in 2008. Improvements include installation of conveyors in the baggage collection area, and expansion of the passenger waiting room.
Flights and Destinations
All flights from Newman Airport have only one destination - Perth, Australia. Starting May 15 of this year, Qantas will also provide flights going to Sydney. The airlines that currently serve the airport include Qantas, QantasLink, Skywest, and Virgin Australia.
