Jetstar Airways - Airline Information

Jetstar Airways is a low cost airline based in Melbourne, Australia. A subsidiary of Qantas Airways, it boasts of an extensive network of domestic and regional flights, as well as international routes for the leisure and value-based market under the QantasLink banner.

While Jetstar Airways flies from its primary hub at the Melbourne Airport, it also operates out of Brisbane Airport, Sydney Airport, the Gold Coast Airport, and Cairns Airport.

The value-based carriers that make up the Jetstar Group provide budget fares for passengers traveling across Australia, to New Zealand, and all over Asia Pacific. The airline also has branches in Singapore (Jetstar Asia) and Vietnam (Jetstar Pacific). When the financial year ended in June 2011, Jetstar Airways had a record of nearly 20 million passengers on its roster.

Established in 2003, Jetstar Airways first offered its low fare routes in May 2004. It flies passengers to 17 domestic destinations, and 15 international destinations, for both short and long haul flights. Together with its New Zealand branch, it currently operates 59 aircraft that include Airbus A320s, Airbus A321s and Airbus A330-200s in its fleet.

Jetstar Airways offers Business and Economy Class seating on all of its A330 international routes. Apart from its Qantas Frequent Flyer program, exclusive airport lounge, and Qantas Club, Jetstar Airways also offers a buy-on-board menu of food and drinks. Passengers may also opt to pre-order their meals online when they make their flight booking.

In November 2011, Jetstar Airways started offering the use of iPads as part of its in-flight entertainment, making it the first ever airline to do so. Each iPad unit is loaded with magazines, movies and games, and the entertainment device is offered on all flights lasting more than two hours - for complimentary use in Business Class, but for a fee in Economy class.
