Scoot Marks Singapore-Perth Service Anniversary

12th Dec 2014

The medium to long-haul budget and wholly-owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines began its Singapore-Perth service exactly more than a year ago, on December 12, 2013.

Part of the first anniversary celebration is the addition of flight frequency between the two cities, from the current 5-times weekly flights to once-daily service. Starting February 1, 2015, travelers between the two destinations will have more flight options to choose from.

The news came after the airline announced recently of the opening of the Singapore-Melbourne route late next year. Melbourne will be the airline's 4th destination in Australia and its 13th international route.

Scoot has a lot to celebrate on the Singapore-Perth route as it has flown close to 150,000 passengers since the launch of its service last year.

Campbell Wilson, Scoot's CEO, was very pleased to announce the news and was excited to introduce to the public that its increased frequency will allow travelers from Perth to access Scoot's international long-haul network from its hub in Singapore. Furthermore, Perth travelers will also be able to access Tigerair's more extensive route network across Asia.

The airline also disclosed that starting next year, it will start deploying its first B787, aka Dreamliner, on the Singapore-Perth route, thus making it the inaugural route for the airline's fleet of the fuel efficient jetliner.

The aircraft will come equipped with the most modern amenities such as an in-flight Wi-Fi as passengers will continue to enjoy the best value fares everyday of the week.

Perth Airport CEO, Brad Geatches, for his part, welcomed the news by Scoot officials, saying it will definitely boost tourism between the two destinations. He added that travelers from Western Australia state will have more options to visit Singapore and Southeast Asia and beyond.

To celebrate the success of the Singapore-Perth service, the airline is currently holding fare promo specials with tickets valid for travel between February 1 and October 24, 2015.
