Mildura Airport (MQL) is on Alan Mathews Drive in Mildura, Victoria, 8 km from the Mildura central business district (CBD). Mildura is on the Victorian side of the Murray River, across the river from Buronga in New South Wales (NSW).
The company behind the airport is Mildura Airport Pty Ltd.
This site's schedule records show direct domestic flights from Mildura Airport to the places below, with the airlines recorded on each route. The airlines recorded are Qantas and Rex, and the operator says baggage limits vary by airline.
| Destination | Airport | Airlines recorded |
|---|---|---|
| Melbourne | Melbourne Airport (MEL) | Qantas, Rex |
| Sydney | Sydney Airport (SYD) | Qantas |
The operator says the airport is generally open 7 days a week from 5am to 10pm, and that check-in and cafe opening hours may vary with flight schedules. It recommends arriving at least 60 to 90 minutes before your scheduled departure, and suggests checking the best arrival time with your airline or on your booking confirmation.
Flights cannot be booked at the airport: all bookings are made directly with the airline, through travel agents or online. Check baggage limits with your airline before you pack.
The operator says all passengers on regulated flights must go through security screening in line with government requirements. Items surrendered at screening are not stored or returned. The operator says you can accompany a passenger through to the boarding lounge and gate, which are through security.
The operator points passengers to the Department of Home Affairs page on what can and cannot be carried. Home Affairs says its restrictions on powders, liquids, aerosols and gels apply when departing Australia, when transiting through Australia from one country to another, on the domestic leg of a flight departing from an Australian international terminal, and before boarding an inbound flight at its last point of departure before Australia.
The cafe inside the terminal serves light meals, coffee and refreshments, and the operator says it is through security. You can order from your table by scanning a code, and the terminal also has local retail stalls. An outdoor cafe is generally open in the summer months, depending on staff rosters and flight schedules.
The Mildura Airport Wine Bar is a quiet lounge for a light refreshment before your flight. Friday afternoon tastings, where local winemakers present their wines, are advertised there.
A public viewing deck lets visitors watch aircraft arrive and take off, and the council's 2024-2025 annual report lists the completion of the viewing deck for that year. Free wifi is available throughout the terminal.
The terminal displays the Milloo Thangi (Murray River Country) image and story by an Aboriginal artist. Property lost at the airport goes through airport administration, and items left on board an aircraft go through the airline.
The check-in counter has a hearing loop, and fully accessible toilets are in the departure lounge and cafe area and near arrivals. Accessible parking bays are in both the short-term and long-term car parks, with step-free concrete walkways to the terminal.
The operator says guide dogs and other accredited assistance animals are welcome in the terminal and on board the aircraft, and that passengers travelling with one must make arrangements with the airline when booking.
The airport is 8 km from the Mildura CBD. The options are below, and the operator describes public transport to the airport as limited.
| Option | Details from the operator |
|---|---|
| Taxi | Taxis wait at the front of the arrivals area, with more further along the front-of-house thoroughfare |
| Uber | Rideshare pick-ups further along the front-of-house thoroughfare |
| Car hire | The companies operating from within the terminal include Hertz and Sixt |
| Public transport | Limited |
| Your own car | Short-term, long-term and premium car parks, all boom-gate operated; the first 2 hours in the short-term car park are free |
Short-term, long-term and premium parking are all boom-gate operated, no booking is needed, and you pay when you leave. Pay stations in the arrivals area near the terminal take tap-and-go and credit cards, and you can also pay by credit card at the boom gate on exit. The pay stations and boom gates have a help button.
The first 2 hours in the short-term car park are free and charges apply after that. Long-term and premium parking are charged in 24-hour blocks.
The drop-off and pick-up zones are on the roadway in front of the terminal, with disabled parking bays along the same strip. The operator allows a maximum of 3 minutes in the zone before drivers are asked to move along, and vehicles must not be left unattended at any time.
Mildura Rural City Council's Queensland fruit fly page advises travellers within Australia to find out what restrictions apply where they are going. Its example is to eat or dispose of fruit and vegetables before entering South Australia. The council describes Queensland fruit fly as an established pest found in eastern Australia, and the page points travellers to the interstatequarantine.org.au website and to South Australia's fruit fly travel restrictions page.
South Australia's fruit fly travel restrictions page says the requirements differ by the type of produce and the part of Australia you travel from. Check that page for travellers from Victoria, or call its Fruit Fly Hotline, before you carry produce on into South Australia.
Mungo National Park, in NSW, is part of the Willandra Lakes World Heritage Area, and the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service says it is of great significance to the Ngyiampaa, Mutthi Mutthi and Southern Paakantyi people. The park service suggests a picnic or camp near Lake Mungo with a walk or a guided tour, and lists a guided tour to the Walls of China as well as cycling and drive tours.
The park service lists Mildura as 116 km from the park. From Mildura, cross the bridge to Buronga, follow the Silver City Highway towards Broken Hill, and take Arumpo Road at the Mungo National Park sign, following it to its end.
Many roads to the park are unsealed and conditions vary, so the park service asks visitors to check road conditions with the Balranald, Central Darling and Wentworth Shire councils before setting out. No food, petrol or diesel is available at or near the park, Telstra mobile reception in the park is limited, and summer temperatures can reach 50 degrees Celsius in some places. There is nowhere in the park to charge an electric vehicle.
A park entry fee applies, paid by self-registration outside the Mungo Visitor Centre. Pets are not permitted, assistance animals excepted.
Hattah-Kulkyne National Park is off the Calder Highway between Ouyen and Mildura, 74 km south of Mildura. Its freshwater Hattah Lakes are filled seasonally by creeks connected to the Murray, and camping, walking, bike riding and canoeing are popular there and in the adjoining Murray-Kulkyne Park.
Parks Victoria lists environmental works in the northern section of the park to December 2026 under the Victorian Murray Floodplain Restoration Project, with more heavy vehicle movement and temporary track closures. Check the Parks Victoria page for updates before you go.
