Check-in at Albury Airport

The airport recommends arriving 60 to 90 minutes before your scheduled departure time, which allows time for screening before you enter the departure lounge. Its frequently asked questions (FAQ) page says check-in closes strictly 30 minutes before the flight, and that your booking or your airline has the exact check-in rules.

The operator says passengers aged 18 and over must show valid photo identification (ID). It suggests checking with your airline which forms of photo ID it accepts, and it refers baggage questions to the airline too.

Security screening at Albury Airport

The airport screens with walk-through metal detectors, x-ray machines and explosive trace detection (ETD) equipment, and checked baggage is screened as well. Anyone who chooses to go through screening to farewell family, friends or colleagues is screened too. The screening point has seats, and staff there assist people with mobility issues.

At the checkpoint, laptops and tablets come out of their bags onto a tray, and bulky coats go on the conveyor. Liquids, aerosols and gels in containers of less than 100 millilitres go in a transparent, resealable bag, and a larger container is screened separately. Prams, strollers and walking aids are screened, infants are taken out of the pram, and passengers with a medical implant or prosthesis can ask for separate screening.

Security at Australian airports is regulated by the federal government through the Department of Home Affairs. The operator's FAQ says that under these regulations, some smaller flights may not require mandatory screening of passengers, and it gives the Rex Saab 340 aircraft operating at Albury as its example.

Pesticides, petrol, acids and bleaches are among the dangerous goods not allowed in any passenger baggage, and the operator refers passengers to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). The operator's FAQ says food and drink can be carried, opened items must be sealable for the x-ray, and glass is not allowed for food and drink. It also says retail-packaged alcohol can go in carry-on or checked baggage up to a net total of 5 litres per person, at no more than 70% alcohol by volume, and it may not be drunk on board.

The Uiver Cafe & Bar

The Uiver Cafe & Bar serves hot coffee, breakfast, snacks, lunch and alcohol, and the operator says it opens primarily for departure flights, subject to flight times. It stocks local wines from Rutherglen, the King Valley and the Kiewa Valley, and craft beer from Beechworth. The name comes from the 1934 rescue of the DC2 Uiver in Albury.

Alcohol bought in the terminal cannot leave the building, because the bar's liquor licence does not allow it.

Facilities in the terminal

The airport has completed an upgrade that expanded the arrivals hall and passenger lounge, added a new baggage carousel and upgraded the Uiver Cafe & Bar.

Free Wi-Fi runs on the network Free_AlburyCity_WiFi, which lasts right up until you board, and the terminal has charging points. Baggage trolleys are free inside the airport and in the car park.

There are parenting and disabled toilets with a baby change table, and a defibrillator on the wall outside the enquiries office. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows look out over the runway.

The operator lists a chair lift or a ramp for Qantas and Rex passengers. AlburyCity has introduced the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme across its facilities, the airport included, and disabled parking spaces are in both the general and the secure car park.

Smoking is not allowed in the terminal, under the front awning, on the apron or on any aircraft, and the designated smoking areas are at the far east and far west of the terminal. There is an on-site meeting room for hire.

There are no storage facilities at the airport for luggage or any other item, keys included. Lost property from airport-managed areas is collected from the customer service desks by prior arrangement, and items left on an aircraft go through the airline.

Pets, freight and assistance dogs

The operator says pets booked to travel should arrive at the airport 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Pets are dropped off and collected at the western end of the terminal building, next to the staff car park, and freight is collected from the same end. Only assistance dogs, with a proof of identity document, are allowed inside the terminal.

Local bus route 909

Route 909 stops at Albury Airport on its way between Albury, Albury Base Hospital, Kerr Road, Kensington Gardens and Thurgoona. Martin's Albury's route page says the service operates every day of the year. Check the current timetable with Martin's Albury before you travel.

Parking at Albury Airport

The car park is a private commercial car park run by the airport. In the general car park, the first 30 minutes are free and charges apply after that, and if you leave and come back within 2 hours, your parking time accumulates. No booking is needed for the general or the secure car park.

There are no paper tickets: as you drive through the arrivals boom gate, cameras record your vehicle's number plate. You pay by credit card at the exit gates, or at the on-site pay stations, where you enter your registration; Visa, MasterCard and Eftpos are accepted. After paying, you have 15 minutes to leave the car park.

The vehicle height restriction is 2.75 metres. A taller vehicle, such as a caravan or motor home, can still use the general car park, but its driver must contact the airport before arriving.

The secure undercover car park is reached through the arrivals boom gate and along the loop road past the airport building, on the left behind fencing. It can be pre-booked as a guest on the airport's parking platform, and annual passes are available for frequent customers. By parking, you agree to the airport's conditions of entry.

Pick-up and drop-off at Albury Airport

The pick-up and drop-off zone directly in front of the airport building is a 5-minute zone, and the operator says holders of a disability parking permit are also welcome to use it. The operator asks drivers not to park and wait there, but to keep driving through and do a lap back around.

Taxiway and runway projects at Albury Airport

On 9 June 2026, AlburyCity announced the completion of an extension to Taxiway Alpha at the western end of the runway, which reduces backtracking along the runway. The council says the extension also gives access to the airport's Western Precinct, a priority area for the future development of aviation services. The work was funded under the federal Albury Wodonga Regional Projects initiative.

In February 2025, the council secured federal funding under Round 4 of the Regional Airports Program for a full runway overlay, to reinforce the surface and enable larger aircraft to land. The council's 2026-2027 budget lists the Albury Airport Runway Overlay among its major investments.

Albury Wodonga and the Murray region

The operator describes the airport as connecting Albury Wodonga, the Murray River and North East Victoria.
