Alliance Airlines is the airline of Alliance Aviation Services Limited, a listed company with its registered office at Brisbane Airport (BNE). Alliance describes its business as contract and charter flying for mining, energy and government customers, and wet-lease flying for other airlines, among them Qantas and Virgin Australia. On some routes it also sells seats to the public on its own website, under its own airline code, QQ.

Booking an Alliance Airlines flight

As of October 2026, Alliance's own website sells seats on these recorded routes, subject to availability:

For Olympic Dam, a BHP notice published on Roxby Downs Council's website on 7 July 2026 said publicly available seats would continue to be offered on Alliance flights, booked through Alliance's website. Alliance's annual report of 26 August 2026 says its sales to the public include seats on flights to resource-sector sites across Australia, where the contract charter client allows seats to be sold to the general public.

Alliance says bookings on its Brisbane to Gladstone services can only be made through the Virgin Australia website.

Under Alliance's Conditions of Carriage, every sector on a ticket with a flight number beginning QQ is subject to Alliance's conditions. If Alliance makes a booking for you on another airline's code, the Conditions say it does so only as that airline's agent, that the other airline's terms may significantly limit or exclude liability, and that you should check that airline's website about your rights. Alliance's website gives its phone number as 1300 780 970.

Alliance Airlines fare types

On flights booked with Alliance, the fare types are Discount, Saver and Flexi. As of October 2026, Alliance sets these rules for each:

FareName changesRefunds and credit
DiscountNot permittedNon-refundable, and the ticket value cannot be kept as credit
SaverUp to 24 hours before departureNon-refundable; the ticket value stays as credit for 12 months from ticket issue, for rebooking onto a Saver fare only
FlexiUp to 24 hours before departureRefundable up to 24 hours before departure, and a fee applies

On each fare type, no changes or bookings can be made at the airport, and the fare is forfeited on a no-show or a cancellation within 24 hours of departure. Tickets are valid for 12 months from purchase.

Checking in and travelling with Alliance Airlines

Alliance says check-in for all its flights closes strictly 30 minutes before departure, and its Conditions ask you to check in at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time unless your itinerary says otherwise. Online and mobile check-in is available 24 hours before departure for Alliance's scheduled flights and eligible charter flights. Seat selection is only available at check-in.

Brisbane Airport: where Alliance checks in

In a 30 September 2024 notice about temporary arrangements during its domestic terminal upgrade, Brisbane Airport listed Alliance among the airlines to the right at the end of the Skywalk and at the Zone 6 to 7 drop-off. Check the check-in area with the airline on your booking before you fly.

Identification for Alliance Airlines flights

Alliance's Conditions of Carriage ask passengers to produce photo identification at check-in, such as a driver's licence, an employee identification card or a valid passport. Infants aged 0 to 2 do not need photo identification, and children aged 3 and older need identification such as a birth certificate, passport, student identification or Medicare card.

Unaccompanied minors and special assistance

Alliance's unaccompanied minor service covers children aged 5 to 11 inclusive, and children aged 12 to 14 may request it. It is booked through Alliance's Reservations Team by email. Special assistance has to be raised before you buy your ticket, and Alliance's assistance dog form is due at least 14 days before travel.

Delays and cancellations

Alliance's Conditions say times shown in timetables are not guaranteed. Under the Conditions, if Alliance cancels or delays a flight through circumstances beyond its control, it carries you on another scheduled service with space available or refunds the fare for that sector.

Alliance Airlines baggage allowance

As of October 2026, Alliance allows one piece of cabin baggage up to 23 cm wide, 34 cm high and 48 cm long, weighing no more than 7 kg, on its Fokker 70, Fokker 100 and Embraer 190 aircraft. Alliance staff may direct a cabin bag to be stowed in the aircraft hold.

The checked allowance in economy is 20 kg on the Fokker 100, Fokker 70 and Embraer 190. Any item of checked baggage can measure up to 158 cm in total (width plus height plus length), Alliance does not accept an item over 32 kg as checked baggage, and some ports set lower weight limits. Excess baggage travels only when there is space for it.

On charter and fly-in fly-out flights, the checked allowance is set with the charter client. When Alliance carries you under another airline's code, its Conditions say the carriers concerned may impose additional baggage charges. Check your allowance with the airline on your booking before you fly.

Flying into South Australia, and daylight saving

South Australia has its own rules on which fruit, vegetables, plants and plant products can be brought into the state, including rules for the Riverland Pest Free Area. As of October 2026, the state's fruit fly travel page says a zero-tolerance policy is in place, and that restricted items have to be eaten or put in a quarantine bin. These are South Australia's own rules, and they apply to items brought into the state.

Daylight saving differs between the states and territories. New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory observe it, and Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory do not.

Ownership, Qantas and the Alliance Airlines fleet

Alliance Aviation Services Limited is a listed company, and Alliance's annual report of 26 August 2026 shows Qantas Airways Limited as its largest shareholder. In April 2023 the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said it would oppose Qantas's proposed acquisition of Alliance, concluding that it was likely to substantially lessen competition in air transport for resource industry customers in Western Australia and Queensland. On 19 October 2023, Alliance and Qantas agreed to terminate the scheme implementation deed for the acquisition, dated 4 May 2022.

Alliance also flies for Qantas under a wet lease, which its annual report describes as providing an aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance to another airline. Qantas's own page on its Embraer 190 aircraft says Qantas has partnered with Alliance Airlines to operate them. Alliance announced a revised wet-lease agreement with Qantas on 5 August 2026, and its annual report says the agreement includes a staged reduction in aircraft and flying hours over the 2027 financial year.

Alliance's fleet page lists the Fokker 70, Fokker 100 and Embraer 190. Its results release of 26 August 2026 sets out the progressive retirement of older Fokker 100 aircraft, keeping Fokker 70 aircraft where operationally appropriate, and greater use of the Embraer 190 across the fleet.
