Collected between 29 October 2026 and 30 October 2026. Not live — check with the airline before booking.
Dubbo Regional Airport (DBO) is 5 km north-west of Dubbo on the Mitchell Highway, in central-western New South Wales (NSW), and 5 km from the Dubbo central business district. Dubbo Regional Council operates and maintains it, and the operator's own website goes by the shorter name Dubbo Airport. The operator describes the airport as operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with no curfew.
Regular public transport flights use the airport alongside charter flights, general aviation flight training and air freight. The airport is also home to the NSW Rural Fire Service Training Academy and Centre for Aviation Excellence and the NSW Police Regional Education Training Centre.
The operator's pages place the check-in counters at the front of the terminal, the Airport Cafe and Bar in the departures area of the terminal, and, per the operator's March 2026 parking page, the secure car park's pay machine in Arrivals. The street address is 4R Cooreena Road, off Mitchell Highway, Dubbo NSW 2830.
The operator advises arriving at least one hour before your flight's departure, with travel documents and photo identification ready. Check-in counters generally open 1 to 1.5 hours before departure and close 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Your airline's own check-in rules are the ones that apply, so check them with the airline.
Entering the screening area counts as consent to each screening procedure, and body scanners are in use, so empty your pockets before you reach them. A frisk search needs your consent and may be done in a private room by a screening officer of the same gender. You can refuse screening, but you then cannot go through to the gate or board.
Prohibited items, weapons and dangerous goods are restricted under Australian Government aviation security law. Airports and airlines are under no obligation to store or return prohibited items you surrender, which are disposed of. The operator sends passengers to the TravelSecure website for what can be carried on domestic flights.
The Airport Cafe and Bar is in the departures area of the terminal. People who are not flying are welcome in the departures lounge, through passenger screening. The menu covers steak sandwiches, pies and sausage rolls, wraps and salads, Turkish sandwiches, BLT bagels, cakes and slices and yoghurts, and the bar is fully licensed for beer, wine and spirits.
The operator listed these opening hours in April 2026, and describes them as approximate, based on scheduled airline services:
| Day | Cafe and Bar hours |
|---|---|
| Monday to Friday | 5.30 am to 6.30 pm |
| Saturday | 5.30 am to 10.30 am, then 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm |
| Sunday | 7.30 am to 9.30 am, then 1.30 pm to 6.30 pm |
On Saturdays and Sundays the listed hours have a break in the middle of the day.
The operator lists charging stations, free Wi-Fi, a children's area, vending machines and large-screen TVs. Toilets include parenting and disabled facilities, and a defibrillator is on the wall at the check-in area. Baggage trolleys are free, inside the terminal and in the car park.
Your airline is responsible for mobility and boarding assistance: airline wheelchairs and lifting equipment, help through the terminal and onto the aircraft, and early boarding on request. The operator advises contacting the airline at least 48 hours before travel, and telling it if you are travelling with an assistance animal or specialised devices. Whether you can take your own wheelchair to the gate depends on the airline's rules.
Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyards are free from the terminal: fill in the operator's request form, then collect the lanyard from staff at the screening point. The lanyard does not come with a personal escort or wheelchair assistance. The airport's accessibility page carries its Disability Access Facilitation Plan, a terminal sensory map, communication boards and social stories for arrivals and departures.
The communication boards are also at the security screening point, and the operator suggests a practice visit to the terminal before you fly.
The operator's Need assistance page (April 2026) gives the airport contact line as +61 2 6801 4560, 7 days, 6 am to 5 pm, for matters that relate directly to the airport and the secure car park. Questions about a booked flight, check-in times or baggage go to your airline.
Lost property is reported through a form on the operator's Need assistance page, and found items are generally kept for 3 months. Hazardous, unhygienic and perishable items are disposed of the same day. Anything left on an aircraft, or a bag that has not arrived, is a matter for the airline.
The airport's own transport page covers taxis and car hire.
| Option | Details |
|---|---|
| Taxi | The operator's transport page (April 2026) lists Dubbo Radio Cabs Co-op, from a rank immediately outside the terminal |
| Car hire | Companies on the operator's April 2026 list include Sixt, Budget and Hertz, and a dedicated rental car park, per the March 2026 parking page |
| Your own car | The operator's March 2026 parking page described a regular car park, a rental car park and a secure car park; part of the public car park closed ahead of works starting on 30 June 2026 (see Parking below) |
The operator's transport page (April 2026) lists Dubbo Radio Cabs Co-op, with a taxi rank immediately outside the terminal, and gives 131 008 or (02) 6325 0097 for booking ahead.
The companies on the operator's April 2026 car rental list include Sixt, Budget and Hertz, and the operator's March 2026 parking page described a dedicated rental car park for hire cars. Check with your hire company where to collect the car.
Before the car park works began, the operator's parking page (March 2026) described a regular car park for short and long term parking, a dedicated rental car park and a secure car park. The regular car park was monitored by closed-circuit television (CCTV) with regular security patrols, and the council stated it does not guarantee the safety of vehicles left there. Part of the public car park closed ahead of works that started on 30 June 2026 (see Works at Dubbo Regional Airport below).
The secure car park was described as fully automated and open 5 am to 7.30 pm, seven days a week. New vehicles could not enter after 7.30 pm, although vehicles already inside could leave at any time, so anyone planning to use it would have needed to arrive before 7.30 pm. It had a 2.4 metre perimeter fence, automated pedestrian gates, single vehicle entry and exit gates, CCTV and security patrols, and part of it was under shade.
The page set out the process: take a ticket at the entry, keep it with you, and walk out through the pedestrian gate near the terminal. On your return, scan the ticket and pay at the pay machine in Arrivals, which gives you a validated ticket. Use that ticket at the pedestrian gate and then at the vehicle exit.
This site's schedule records show direct domestic flights from Dubbo Regional Airport to the places below, with the airlines recorded on each route. The airlines recorded are Link Airways, Qantas, Virgin Australia and Rex, and check-in times, baggage and assistance are each airline's own.
| Destination | Airport | Airlines recorded |
|---|---|---|
| Broken Hill | Broken Hill Airport (BHQ) | Rex |
| Brisbane | Brisbane Airport (BNE) | Link Airways, Virgin Australia |
| Melbourne | Melbourne Airport (MEL) | Link Airways, Virgin Australia |
| Sydney | Sydney Airport (SYD) | Qantas, Rex |
New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory observe daylight saving, and Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory do not. Dubbo, Sydney and Broken Hill are in New South Wales, but Broken Hill is in Australian Central Standard Time, which also covers South Australia and the Northern Territory. Melbourne is in Victoria and Brisbane is in Queensland.
Dubbo Regional Council is adding a solar shade canopy over part of the existing public car park, with solar panels, battery storage and electric vehicle charging. Part of the car park closed ahead of construction starting on 30 June 2026. The council's carpark upgrade page has the project details and asks visitors to allow extra travel time when accessing the airport.
The operator's news item on the runway, last updated in January 2025, says the council received funding from the Australian Government's Growing Regions Program, Round 2, to upgrade and strengthen the main runway, associated taxiways and aprons. The item describes a re-sheet and full overlay of the main runway so that larger Rural Fire Service air tankers can use the airport, which it says was not possible at the time. It gives the work an estimated 18 months to complete.
The Australian Government's list of Round 2 funded projects, published in September 2025, names it the Dubbo Regional Airport Runway Sustainability Project, stage 1 of the Dubbo Regional Airport upgrades. The operator's news item also quotes the Mayor describing a long-term plan for an emergency services hub at the airport.
Destination NSW places Dubbo in the Great Western Plains region of central-western New South Wales, where the Newell, Mitchell and Golden highways meet. It puts Dubbo about five hours' drive north-west of Sydney.
Taronga says Western Plains Zoo, on Obley Road, is open every day of the year. Its one-way sealed zoo circuit is 5.5 km long, and you can go round it by bike, by cart, in your own car or on foot. Overnight stays are at Zoofari Lodge, Savannah Cabins and Billabong Camp.
Destination NSW also lists Old Dubbo Gaol, a heritage-listed prison dating to 1847, the Royal Flying Doctor Visitor Experience, stargazing sessions at Dubbo Observatory and the Western Plains Cultural Centre. Its list also takes in the Dubbo Regional Botanic Garden, the Macquarie River Trail and Terramungamine Rock Grooves, where the Tubbagah people used rocks to shape their weapons and tools.
Warrumbungle National Park, near Coonabarabran, is less than two hours north, by Destination NSW's reckoning. The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service says the park is known for Australia's first Dark Sky Park recognition, the Breadknife rock formation and the Breadknife and Grand High Tops walk. A vehicle entry fee applies in the park.
The operator puts it 5 km from the Dubbo central business district, north-west of the town on the Mitchell Highway. The operator's transport page (April 2026) lists a taxi rank immediately outside the terminal.
The operator advises arriving at least one hour before departure. Counters generally close 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time, and your airline's own rules apply.
Yes. Visitors are welcome in the departures lounge, but they must go through passenger screening first. The Airport Cafe and Bar is in the departures area of the terminal.
The operator's March 2026 parking page said new vehicles could not enter the secure car park after 7.30 pm: it was open from 5 am to 7.30 pm, seven days a week, and vehicles already inside could leave at any time.
Fill in the operator's request form, then collect the lanyard free of charge from staff at the screening point. It does not come with a personal escort or wheelchair assistance. Mobility and boarding assistance is arranged with your airline, at least 48 hours before travel, as the operator advises.
Yes. New South Wales observes daylight saving. Queensland, where Brisbane is, does not.
