Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport (WTB) is at 1511 Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road, Wellcamp, in Queensland, west of Toowoomba. Wagners, an Australian-owned infrastructure, construction and materials company, built it, and the airport's own website (the operator) calls it Australia's first privately funded public airport. Its operational documents use the name Wellcamp Airport, with the location indicator YBWW.
This site's schedule records show direct flights with Qantas to Sydney, and with Regional Express (Rex) to Brisbane, Charleville and St George.
All airline check-in desks are at the terminal entrance marked "Arrivals", so use that door even when you are flying out. The operator recommends arriving at least 1 hour before a domestic flight, a little earlier in peak season or if you need special assistance, and checking check-in times with your airline.
The operator gives the booking numbers as 13 13 13 for Qantas and 13 17 13 for Rex.
The operator's advice for the screening point is to pack loose items in your hand luggage and keep your laptop and phone where you can reach them for the tray. Metal buckles and some jewellery set off alarms. If a medical or physical condition prevents a body scan, tell the Security Screening Officer; the operator says medically prescribed devices and aids are not restricted as long as you carry supporting documentation from your medical practitioner.
The items the operator lists as prohibited include scissors, knives, sporting bats and clubs, letter openers, non-personal aerosols, personal aerosols without a safety guard, and toy imitation firearms. It says flammable liquids or gases are not permitted on aircraft in checked or carry-on luggage, and it points to the Department of Home Affairs for the full list.
The Australian Government's Cyber and Infrastructure Security Centre (CISC) publishes general conditions for air services. It says an open charter or regular public transport air service must be screened if it:
The Department of Home Affairs page on what you can and cannot bring says its liquids, aerosols and gels restrictions apply in these situations:
Where the restrictions apply, each container must be 100 millilitres by volume, or 100 grams by weight, or less.
The Altitude Bar & Cafe is open for all departing flights. It is fully licensed, with an outdoor playground and a glass-enclosed garden and viewing area, and it is open to the public subject to standard airport security screening. The terminal has free Wi-Fi, and the operator's shop and dining list includes a Choice kiosk and chemist.
The terminal covers 8,000 square metres. Guida Moseley Brown Architects designed it and Toowoomba-based FK Gardner & Sons built it, in glass, timber, polished stone flooring and exposed concrete. Hanging inside is the Southern Cross Aviation SC-1 prototype, built at the Toowoomba Foundry in the late 1950s, which first flew in 1961.
Items handed in at the terminal go to the Administration Office, which holds them for up to 90 days and then donates them to local charities. The office answers on +61 7 4614 3200 from 8am to 5pm on weekdays. Luggage lost on a flight is a matter for your airline, and the operator treats unattended bags as suspicious.
The operator runs walking tours of the airport on request by email, for groups of 10 to 40. It will not confirm a tour more than 2 months ahead or less than 2 weeks ahead, and most tours require standard screening.
The operator says the terminal is designed to international standards, and asks you to tell your airline when booking if you need help with check-in, baggage drop or boarding. The accessible parking bays are the closest to the terminal, with single-level access and tactile guides, for holders of a Disability Parking Permit. A set-down zone at the front of the terminal has single-level kerbside access.
Accessible bathrooms and parent rooms are available landside, and airside in the departure lounge. The operator says its Airport Ambassadors "meet most arriving and departing flights", offering help to passengers with mobility needs.
For travellers without a car, the operator lists a pre-booked shuttle, taxis and hire cars. The shuttle is pre-booked, so arrange it before you fly.
The airport is on the Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road at Wellcamp, west of Toowoomba. The operator publishes a directions map from the Toowoomba Central Business District (CBD), along with maps of the highways leading to the airport and of the route from Ipswich.
The Toowoomba Bypass, also called the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing, opened to traffic on 8 September 2019, according to a joint Queensland and Australian Government release, and runs for 41 kilometres to the north of Toowoomba. The operator says the bypass brings Ipswich, Gatton and Laidley within 1 hour of the airport. The Toowoomba Bypass is a toll road and all vehicles that use it must pay a toll, which is collected without stopping.
ShuttleBug Private Hire and Transfers runs pre-booked transfers to and from the airport from Toowoomba motels, businesses and homes, and lists Platform 4 at the Toowoomba Bus Interchange as a pick-up and drop-off point. Black & White Cabs takes bookings by app or by phone, and a taxi courtesy phone is near the baggage carousel.
The hire companies the operator lists include Europcar, Hertz, SIXT and Budget. Book ahead: a desk may be unattended when there is no booking, and the operator recommends prebooking any vehicle you need.
Hire cars are parked in branded bays in the main car park. To return one, park in the company's bay and take the keys to the customer service agent on duty, or use the key deposit at the desk if it is closed.
You do not need to pre-book parking, because there is ample space within easy walking distance of the terminal. Short-stay and long-stay parking are currently in the same area, which is monitored 24 hours a day. If you want to book ahead anyway, the operator takes bookings by email.
Take a paper ticket on the way in and pay at the pay station in the terminal, next to baggage claim. It takes Visa and Mastercard credit cards, but American Express, Diners Card and cash are not accepted. Long-stay parking is charged by the 24-hour day, counted from midnight to midnight, and shorter stays are charged by length of stay.
At the front of the terminal, a vehicle can stay in the drop-off zone for a maximum of 2 minutes and must be attended at all times, or it may be towed away.
This site's schedule records show direct domestic flights from Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport to the places below, with the airlines recorded on each route.

|---|---|---|
| Brisbane | Brisbane Airport (BNE) | Rex |
| Charleville | Charleville Airport (CTL) | Rex |
| St George | St George Aerodrome (SGO) | Rex |

Brisbane, Charleville and St George are in Queensland, like Toowoomba, and Sydney is in New South Wales. New South Wales observes daylight saving and Queensland does not.
The operator says Wagners built the airport over 19 months, as the first greenfield airport built in Australia in over 50 years. Operations began in 2014 with Qantas passenger services to Sydney, and Rex began passenger services to Western Queensland in 2015. In 2016, the operator says, the Australian Government granted the airport a Restricted Use International Designation and included it in its Regional Package as a Regional International Gateway.
The name comes from the rural district and from the original property, Wellcamp Downs, once home to a horse stud.
In a release of 27 September 2018, the Qantas Group announced Toowoomba as the first regional site for its Pilot Academy, in partnership with the Queensland Government and the Wagner Corporation, which it described as the airport's owner.
The operator describes the airport as serving the Darling Downs, Granite Belt, Surat Basin and Southern Downs regions. It puts the Southern Downs and the Granite Belt Wine Country, which it calls a cold climate wine region, within 1 hour of the airport.
